Finally! We're so glad to have found such a fine example of the traditional Champagne Saucer, nowadays considered one of the best cocktail glasses. Also named Champagne Coupe or Champagne Cup, the original shape of this peculiar glass is said to have been moulded from Marie-Antoinette's breast. Whether this is true or not, the result is lovely!
This coupe was popular from the 1930's post-prohibition cocktail era to the 1960's, where all Champagne was consumed from these shallow and stemmed bowls. The saucer also makes for a terrific cocktail glass. Drinking Champagne from a coupe has a "je ne sais quoi" charm of a forgone era that remains sought-after.
Schott Zwiesel (a brand of Zwiesel Kristallglas, AG) has a 130 year history of innovation and success, including such breakthrough developments as the first machine made stemware and the first lead-free crystal glass. With the introduction of the proprietary Tritan® Crystal technique, which is the result of the addition of special components to the glass, like titanium, combined with a unique tempering process, Zwiesel has once again revolutionized the industry. Rigorous laboratory testing proves the brilliance, dishwasher safety, and break resistance of Tritan.
