The Xocolatl Mole bitters, by Bittermens, are the original recipe that started it all for the company. They are a combination of cacao, cinnamon and spices.
Inspired by the classic Mole sauces of Mexico, these bitters were originally designed to pair with aged Tequila, but the creators realized that it worked beautifully with aged Rum, Bourbon and Rye as well. It's a great twist. Try it in an Old Fashioned or Manhattan, and new classics like The Conference or the Latin Quarter just wouldn’t be the same without them.
Small batch bitters are making their mark on the cocktail scene. In cities like New York, Boston and San Francisco, cocktail enthusiasts and bartenders are rediscovering long lost recipes and coming up with new signature flavors which help create the palate of the New American Cocktail. Avery and Janet Glasser launched Bittermens in 2010, contributing to the recent bitters rebirth. All their bitters are made in their Brooklyn facilities.
