Peychaud's Bitters, distributed by the American Sazerac Company, traces its roots back to the creative mind of Antoine Amédée Peychaud, a Creole apothecary from the former French colony of Saint-Domingue (now Haiti). In the years spanning 1849 to 1857, Peychaud crafted these bitters after his arrival in New Orleans, Louisiana, around 1793. Setting them apart from Angostura bitters, Peychaud's version is based on gentian with a distinctive aroma of anise complemented by subtle mint undertones.

Peychaud's Aromatic bitters have gained fame as an indispensable ingredient in the classic Sazerac cocktail. They are distinguished by their vibrant red hue. Their versatility extends beyond the Sazerac, as they can be used to elevate various cocktails, ranging from simple Rye and Gingers to complex Negronis. Whether adding a float to a frothy sour or injecting vibrancy into a concoction, Peychaud's Aromatic bitters are an essential tool for mixologists seeking to enhance their libations.

Tasting Notes: The bitters reveal a captivating blend of flavors including anise, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a touch of sweetness. Intermingled with these are notes of cherry, plum, and berry, accompanied by a pronounced bitterness. Red currants contribute a subtle tartness while delicate herbal nuances provide a mild numbing sensation.
